It is the policy of Beatbox Germany to maintain an environment in which all persons are treated with respect and dignity. Every person has the right to work in a professional atmosphere that prohibits discriminatory practices, including sexual harassment and harassment based on ethnicity, color, religion, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other category protected by German law. Harassment, whether verbal, digital, physical or environmental, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Beatbox Germany.
The purpose of this anti-harassment policy is to educate all of our community members about what we consider to be harassment and to clarify our approach to responding to reports. We encourage anyone who feels they have been harassed to report such behavior to Beatbox Germany representatives, who will investigate and respond in a timely manner.
Definition of harassment
Harassment is verbal or physical conduct that denigrates or expresses hostility or aversion toward an individual based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, sexual orientation, age, social disability, or physical disability. For example, racial harassment includes harassment based on physical or cultural characteristics associated with ethnicity. Religious harassment may include demands that a member of Beatbox Germany change or abandon some religious beliefs/practices in exchange for job/program benefits. The definition of sexual harassment is further defined below.
Our guideline
Beatbox Germany's policy is to prohibit conduct based on a person's ethnicity, color, religion, gender, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, sexual orientation, age, disability or handicap, which:
(1) has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment;
(2) has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with a person's performance; or
(3) otherwise impair a person's opportunities.
It is the policy of Beatbox Germany that such behavior is inappropriate and will not be tolerated, regardless of whether an individual instance of inappropriate behavior described rises to the level of legally prohibited harassment.
Examples of conduct that may violate this policy and constitute harassing behavior include, but are not limited to:
- Epithets, insults, jokes or negative stereotypes
- Threatening, intimidating or hostile actions
- Written or graphic posts/ DMs/media in circulation
- “Jokes”, ‘pranks’, ‘trolling’ or other forms of so-called ”humor”
that is demeaning or hostile with respect to ethnicity, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, sexual orientation, age, social impairment or physical disability.
Definition of sexual harassment
According to the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG; § 3 para. 4), sexual harassment is defined as a type of verbal, non-verbal and physical behavior:
„Sexual harassment is discrimination in relation to Section 2 para. 1 nos. 1 to 4 if unwanted, sexually oriented conduct, including unwanted sexual acts and requests for such acts, sexually oriented physical touching, remarks of a sexual nature and unwanted display and visible attachment of pornographic images, has the purpose or effect of violating the dignity of the person concerned, in particular if an environment characterized by intimidation, hostility, humiliation, degradation or insults is created.”
Beatbox Germany prohibits any inappropriate or offensive behavior, including but not limited to:
- Forced sexual acts;
- Explicit or implicit demands for sexual favors in exchange for services or money;
- Touching, assaulting or staring at an individual's body in a sexual manner;
- Graphic, verbal commentary on the body or sexuality of an individual;
- Unwelcome flirting, advances or offers (also digital);
- The public display/distribution of graphic and sexually suggestive objects, images or paintings (including profile pictures);
- Negative comments or derogatory remarks directed at a gender, even if the content of the verbal abuse is not sexual in nature; or
- Any form of retaliation against a Beatbox Germany member who complains about the type of behavior described above or supports an alleged victim's complaint.
The type of behavior described above is not acceptable for anyone representing Beatbox Germany. Not only in the program specific to Beatboy Germany, but also in other situations, such as online and live Beatbox events.

This policy applies to all individuals representing Beatbox Germany, i.e. community members/ battle participants/ staff/ students/ audience etc. All members of our community deserve to work in a respectful environment that is free from harassment and bullying. Beatbox Germany encourages all incidents of harassment to be reported, regardless of who the perpetrator may be.
